The island of Spinalonga, the small port of Elounda and the town of Agios Nikolaos are among the places that you will visit in our trip. We arrive in the morning at the small port of Elounda, a world wide Known resort, having some of the most expensive hotels on the island. We continue by boat to Spinalonga, the main attraction of the day. Spinalonga was fortified by the Venetians in the 16th century, but known as a leper colony until 1957. The English writer Victoria Hislop inspired by the sad story of the lepers, wrote a book “The Island” giving Spinalonga fame and publicity. During walking through the ruins of the colony our professional guide will reveal to you the fascinating story of this unique place. We return by boat back to the port of Elounda where after having lunch in a local tavern, you can enjoy swimming at the beautiful small bay.
